Wide-receivers

Kenny Stills

Stills has not participated much in camp due to a calf injury suffered in June. The Dolphins are not too concerned and if he can get healthy soon he will be able to develop a rapport with Tannehill.

Greg Jennings

Jennings is proving to be one of the better off-season signings in awhile. He is consistent, runs exceptional routes, and is emerging as a leader within the unit. Jennings has all the makings of a solid 2015 season and the quarterbacks are finding it easy to see him on the field and connecting with him on routes.

Jarvis Landry

Landry is a wannabe. He has the tools but absolutely doesn’t know how to use them. If he weren’t a 2nd round pick from a year ago, he might just get cut before the league mandates releases. O.k. so for real? Landry is out of this world and is emerging as a bonafide star on offense. He is unquestionably Tannehill’s favorite target and the Dolphins are giving him looks downfield. During Tuesdays day five of camp, Landry caught a 60 yard bomb from Tannehill. In practice six he returned a would be return 90 yards untouched for a score. He is that good.

Rishard Matthews

Playing on the outside replacing Stills, Matthews is showing off the skills that made Miami refuse to cut or trade him earlier this season when he requested it. The Dolphins are hoping that he will contribute more on Sunday’s and given the wide field he is showing that he is more than just a 5th receiver. Matthews is looking good and that means the rest of the group needs to take notice.

Matt Hazel

If you had asked me who was the frontrunner for the 5th WR spot, and my co-hosts of On the FinSide did just that, I would have said, I did say, that Hazel was going to break out and take Matthews position on the team. That is not the case. Hazel has struggled with some inconsistency and it appears that he can’t upfront compete with Matthews and Michael Preston at this time. He is closing in on not having a position with the team.

Michael Preston

Preston was my fifth or sixth receiver coming into camp and a fast start seemed to solidify that prediction but he slid a little during the 5th practice and I have not heard much about him from day six. Preston is a veteran who is going to make a serious push towards the Dolphins keeping six receivers but he needs to step back up and practice more like he did in the first four practices.

Tommy Streeter

Streeter is having a pretty good camp but it is likely not enough to earn a roster spot this year.
