Miami Dolphins release depth chart
By Andrew Eisch
For the Miami Dolphins, Monday’s training camp featured some old, with a lot of new. Several Dolphin’s legends arrived at the Doctor’s Hospital Training Facility on Monday, including Hall of Famer Dan Marino, and Dolphin’s greats Zach Thomas and Jason Taylor.
As for the new, the Dolphins formally released their first depth chart of the 2015 NFL season. The release of the depth chart comes just a few days for their first preseason game against the Chicago Bears on Thursday. The team will meet for one more practice on Tuesday before leaving for Chicago on Wednesday.
"We’re going to take all of the body of work, the preseason, the practices, the games and see who’s the best,” Head Coach Joe Philbin noted following Monday’s practice."

Although this is only the first depth chart the Dolphins have put out to date this season, it serves as a preliminary check for how the roster will turn out, and ultimately, who will be lining up on Thursday’s preseason opener.
As noted by Alain Poupart of the Miami Dolphins, there are very few surprises upon first glance. But here are a few highlights that we took away from the release of the first depth chart.
- Due to DeVante Parker’s injury, veteran Greg Jennings will take the number one receiver role heading into the first preseason matchup. Michael Preston was noted to have an impressive training camp thus far, as he slides into third on the depth chart behind Jennings and Parker.
- Last year’s undrafted rookie Chris McCain will pop into Thursday’s starting squad on Thursday. McCain had an impressive rookie season that placed him in a prime position battle this season. For now, McCain stand atop the left outside linebacker role.
- The Dolphin’s fifth round selection in Jay Ajayi was a notably sound one during the draft, however, Ajayi has some transitioning to do. Behind Lamar Miller, another 2014 undrafted rookie Damien Williams takes the second spot, followed by LaMichael James, then Ajayi and Mike Gillislee.
- Lastly, Brent Grimes is a write-in for the number one corner back position, while the opposing corner position wasn’t too clear. Jamar Taylor takes the number two corner position for Thursday’s opener, while Brice McCain and Will Davis back them up.
This Dolphins depth chart will take action on Thursday against the Chicago Bears, kickoff begins at 8:00 p.m. ET.
