Selected in the first round of the 2003 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals, Pace started all 16 games his rookie season. Injuries derailed a promising start in Arizona. He played only 14 games in 2004 and only five in 2005 before returning to a full 16 game slate in 2006.

He switched to outside linebacker in 2007 and started all 16 games. In 2008 Pace signed a six year $42 million contract with the New York Jets as a free agent. In that season he logged 80 tackles with 63 of them solo.

Pace entered the 2009 season suspended for the first four games sure to a failed PED test. In his 12 games with the Jets that season he registered 55 tackles, 8 sacks, and 3 forced fumbles.

Despite 12 years in the league, entering his 13th, and 447 tackles and 139 assists, Pace has not made the pro-bowl.
