In 2006 the New York Jets made Nick Mangold their starting center when they drafted hinm with the 29th overall pick in the first round. Mangold has rewarded the Jets with six pro-bowl appearances including four consecutive from 2008 to 20011. He made the pro-bowl the last two seasons as well.
In 2010 Mangold signed a seven year contract extension for $55 million and $22.5 guaranteed. Considered a bargain by today’s market.
Over his NFL career, Mangold has appeared in 141 games out of a possible 144 starting all of the game he has played in. He is considered to be the best center in the AFC by many in the NFL media.
