DESEAN JACKSON

Jackson is far from the player that he used to be in Philadelphia but he is still a deep threat receiver with a lot of talent. What makes Jackson a threat is the fact he runs very good routes and uses his body well to shield defenders. Jackson has very good hands and concentrates well on the ball.

Limiting Jacksons productivity is the question marks at quarterback. Kirk Cousins can be very good or very bad with a lot of in-between games. Which Cousins shows up on Sunday is anyones guess.

The big question is who will Jackson see coverage from? Will Brent Grimes handle the duties of covering Jackson? If so, Jackson’s value to the Redskins will diminish as Grimes will get safety help throughout the game and Grimes himself has proven to be very good at covering bigger receivers. If Jackson is not covered by Grimes who would then cover Pierre Garcon, then Jackson will test a group of young corners.

Jamar Taylor is questionable for the game which will put Bryce McCain in the likely starting role. McCain is a very good nickel corner but we haven’t seen him on the outside enough this off-season to know what he can and can’t do. If the Dolphins opt to keep McCain at nickel the job will fall to free agent Zach Bowman.

Over his seven NFL seasons, Jackson has made the pro-bowl three times and has 38 touchdowns to go with his 7,200 yards receiving. Jackson again isn’t the same threat he was in Philadelphia but he is still a dangerous receiver if they can get the ball into his reach.
