The Miami Dolphins have apparently only made one waiver claim, that for quarterback Logan Thomas. They have started adding their practice squad members as well. News was slow flowing earlier as the NFL changed the way they notified teams of their waiver claims but it appears that things are picking up.
The best news Miami fans could have received today is the addition of Sam Brenner to the practice squad. Brenner returns to Miami after a really good training camp. Many believed that he was a lock to make the team after playing well at both guard and center. Brenner has shown a lot of potential and growth the last two seasons so his addition to the practice squad is good news for a team that is trying to develop him.
According to Omar Kelly via Twitter, Brenner received offers from other teams for their practice squad but no one put in a waiver claim. He opted to stay in Miami. He has a good chance at advancing to the 53 man roster at some point. Especially if his progress continues in the right direction. It’s being reported that the Dolphins offered 33% more to Brenner to keep him in Miami.
Earlier today it was reported via Twitter that the Dolphins were bringing in linebacker Lynden Trail of the Texans. It’s being reported now that the Dolphins did not put a claim in on him and he cleared waivers he will revert back to the property of the Texans and will be added to their injured reserve list.
