Marcus Mariota – QB

To say that Mariota has been far more impressive than most thought would be an understatement. Mariota has made typical rookie quarterback mistakes but he has also played well. His vision downfield is getting better and he is working at avoiding pressure.

Statistically, Mariota has 82 completions on 128 attempts for 1,020 yards. He has a 64.1% completion percentage and has thrown eight touchdowns to three interceptions. He has been sacked 14 times which is inclination to the pressure that defenses can get on him. He doesn’t however get rattled.

The Dolphins front seven need to get pressure on Mariota while at the same time containing him. He will run the ball if he has space and the Dolphins tend to collapse a pocket but leave an opening for quarterbacks to get out of. They can’t do this against the Titans. Tennessee isn’t going to light up the stat lines on offense unless the Dolphins play has poorly as they have in previous weeks. Miami has to be very physical up front and keep Mariota from establishing any rhythm. Forcing him to make mistakes is what the Dolphins need to do because otherwise, he will sit back and pick the defense apart.
