In 1991 the Miami Dolphins entered the first round of the playoffs against the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs were led by Steve DeBerg and coached by Marty Schottenheimer. The Chiefs took an early lead and dominated the Dolphins for the first three-quarters of the game but only managed a 16-3 lead heading into the 4th quarter.

Dan Marino was perfect in the final period connecting on 10 consecutive passes spanning the 3rd and 4th quarter. Eight in the 4th. Marino’s excellence added two touchdowns in the final quarter giving the Dolphins a come from behind victory over the Chiefs, 17-16.

Statistically the game wasn’t a Marino moment. He completed only 19 of 30 passes for 221 yards but threw no interceptions. The Dolphins would lose a week later to the Buffalo Bills in a not-so-thrilling 44-34 divisional game.
