How do you kick off the subject of 50 moments in Miami Dolphins history? There are so many memorable moments and so many non-memorable moments to choose from. Obviously we are not going to start things off with a bad memory so instead, why not start it off with the very first memorable moment in Dolphins history.

On September 2nd, 1966 the Dolphins took the field for the first time as an NFL franchise. George Wilson was the teams first head coach and the Dolphins faced the visiting Oakland Raiders at the Orange Bowl in Miami. The Dolphins received the ball first and Joe Auer took the opening kick-off and ran it back 95 yards for the first touchdown in Dolphins history.

The Dolphins wouldn’t score again until the 4th quarter on a two yard pass from quarterback Rick Norton and the Dolphins would lose. Despite the loss the Dolphins had a memorable drop in their history logs.
