In 2002, only two seasons after Lamar Smith’s impressive playoff rushing total, Ricky Williams took to the field in December and rushed for 228 yards to set the teams single game single player rushing record. Williams rushed 27 times in the December 1st game against the Buffalo Bills but it wasn’t enough as the Dolphins lost the game. If 228 wasn’t impressive enough, a week later Williams tried to break his own record.
Facing the Chicago Bears, the Dolphins running back rushed 31 times for 216 yards and two touchdowns as the Dolphins beat the Bears. It was a most impressive two game span for Williams who totaled 58 carries and 444 yards in the span of seven days.
Williams rushed 383 times in 2000 racking up over 1,800 yards on the ground and 16 touchdowns. He added another 363 yards on 47 receptions for his best NFL career season.
