In 1998 the Miami Dolphins faced off against the New Orleans Saints in Miami. The November game brought a sellout crowd to the stadium and everyone was on their seats as the 8-4 Dolphins took on the 5-7 Saints. The game wasn’t expected to be a close one and it wasn’t. The Dolphins beat the Saints 30-10. In doing so however, Dan Marino became the first NFL quarterback to reach the 400 touchdown plateau.

Marino threw his 399th touchdown pass to O.J. McDuffie in the 2nd quarter as the Dolphins headed to half-time leading 13-10. In the 2nd half, Marino once again turned to McDuffie throwing his 400th touchdown on a 7 yard pass in the 4th quarter. Marino would add another touchdown in the 4th, to McDuffie again, for his 401st.

Marino’s records may all be surpassed but in 1998 Marino was the king of football history.
