The influence of Grimes on the Dolphins defense was clear for all to see last weekend in Philadelphia. The Pro Bowl cornerback missed the game through illness – his first absence of the season – and everybody else forgot how to cover. Eagles tight end Brent Celek recorded 134 yards from four catches, but I am not convinced that figure would be as high if Grimes had started the game.
<div class=. CB. College: Shippensburg. BRENT GRIMES. B

The defense gave up a season high 392 receiving yards to Philly receivers in the first game that Grimes missed. Coincidence? I think not. Opposing teams have been kept under 300 receiving yards in all but one of the previous eight games that Grimes has played in this season. The 32-year-old is clearly a co-leader of the secondary along with Reshad Jones and his experience, leadership and talent were dearly missed last Sunday.

Thankfully Grimes is nowhere to be seen in the midweek injury report, which means he will be back looking to add to the two interceptions he has already this campaign. With an offense that boasts Dez Bryant, Jason Witten, Terrance Williams and Cole Beasley, not to mention the long-awaited and anticipated return of Tony Romo, it will be reassuring for Dolphins fans to see number 21 back out on the field.
