The Miami Dolphins are going to look a little different and yet familiar on Monday night against the New York Giants. Miami will be wearing throwback uniforms.
For the first time in franchise history, the Dolphins will don throwback uniforms at home. They have donned throwbacks only twice in their history. A 2003 Thanksgiving game against the Cowboys in Dallas and they wore the original helmet design in 1994 as part of the NFL 75th Anniversary.
This time around the Dolphins will be wearing circa 1966 uniforms. Aqua jerseys with orange and white numbers and white pants. The team is celebrating its 50th season and are hoping that Monday night will get the team back to .500 on the season.
Dan Campbell is leading the team through the final four weeks of the regular season and hoping that he can turn the team around and thus keep his job as the head coach. Campbell of course took over the team following the firing of Joe Philbin after week four’s loss to the Jets in London.
Since Campbell took over the Dolphins have gone 4-4 with victories over the Titans, Texans, Eagles, and Ravens. The Dolphins are still win-less against the AFC East teams falling to the Bills and Jets twice and the Patriots once. They will face the Patriots in week 17 to conclude their season.
The Dolphins still have a very faint outside chance at the post-season but Miami would need to win out and hope that several other teams collapse down the stretch.
