Doug Marrone

Currently – offensive line/assistant head coach Jacksonville Jaguars

Marrone has had one job in the NFL as a head coach. From 2013-2014 he was the head man in Buffalo but his time was short-lived. After the team changed ownership Marrone activated a clause in his contract that gave him a way out of Buffalo. He resigned following the 2014 season but the clause guaranteed his 2015 contract in full and he took it. Players were not thrilled with the move or the way he handled his business. That off-season he interviewed with the New York Jets  and it was reported to not be a very good one.

The decision to opt of his contract and take the guaranteed money for a season he was refusing to coach didn’t sit well with many of the league owners and that could have an effect on his future as an NFL head coach.

Personally I’m not sure that Marrone heads back to the sideline as a head coach this year. There are a lot more candidates who deserve shots and while Marrone has done well as an assistant in his various stops his one attempt at head coaching missed the mark.

In his two seasons in Buffalo he led the team to a 15-17 record but that included a nine game winning season in 2013.
