Teryl Austin
Currently – defensive coordinator Detroit Lions
The Lions are not a very good football team this season but the defense has stepped up at times and played rather well. Unfortunately that inconsistency has shown through as the Lions have given up large chunks of yardage and points over the course of this season. This will hurt Austin’s chances at finding a head coaching job in 2016.
With the Lions likely to shake things up at season’s end it’s possible that Austin will be looking for work if Jim Caldwell isn’t retained. He could be a top candidate to serve as a defensive coordinator somewhere else. While it’s widely believed that Austin is going to get his chance at a head coaching job, this years not going to help that cause.
