Special Teams

1: Matt Darr – Darr was actually exciting to watch. He has a booming leg and at no time gave any indication that the NFL level bothered him. His exceptional season made fans forget about long time punter Brandon Fields who lost his job to Darr in training camp. The only downside to Darr’s season is a few too many touchbacks.

2: Jarvis Landry – Electric as a punt returner Landry averaged 9.9 yards per return and one touchdown. He added 321 return yards on kick-offs for  a 24.7 yard return average.

3: Damien Williams – Williams had 21 kick-off returns for 457 yards and an 21.8 yard average.

4: Andrew Franks – On the season Franks was 13-16 in field goal attempts missing once from over 50 yards and twice from 40-49 yards. He also missed a couple of extra points as well. What was more revealing than anything else was the offenses ineptitude to get him into field goal range. He average one field goal attempt per game. Pathetic but not his fault.

Top 5 players of the 2015 season

1: Reshad Jones – Jones by far should have been a consensus pick for the pro-bowl. In his career he is identically matched to future Hall of Fame safety Troy Polamalu in every meaningful category. 2015 was probably the best season for Jones who has emerged as a leader in the secondary and on the team.

2: Jarvis Landry – this one is close but Landry was fed the ball by Ryan Tannehill and Jones had to find the ball on his own, that’s the reason he get’s the nod over Landry but there is no question that Landry is the best offensive player that the Dolphins have. Landry set team and NFL records in 2015 and there is no reason to believe he won’t continue putting up incredible numbers.

3: Ndamukong Suh – Suh did what he was supposed to do. He took on multiple blockers almost every down and that was supposed to free up other players to make plays. That didn’t happen but not because of Suh. When Suh finally took the defense on his shoulders, he became the Suh we all expected.

4: Ryan Tannehill – Tannehill is not a favorite of most Dolphins fans but on a team weak in talent posting a 4,000 yard plus season gets you noticed. Over the season Tannehill improved incredibly on his deep throws and consistently hit targets over 15 yards. His biggest downfall is his footwork and pocket awareness and the Dolphins offensive coaches failed to have him use his legs. A major asset that they wasted.

5: Brent Grimes – Despite and inconsistent season that saw Grimes beat by some of the best receivers in the league, Grimes is still, at the age of 32 the best corner back that Miami has on the roster.
