The Miami Dolphins have reportedly agreed to terms with Bears offensive coordinator Adam Gase to become the teams next head coach. This according to reports.

UPDATE: Adam Beasley has reported that NO deal has been made yet despite the tweet earlier. He says he does expect and announcment today. Everyone in the media is trying to be “first” on this it looks like. We will keep you updated throughout the day.

Miami interviewed Gase on Thursday and it was rumored then that they would make a big push to sign the candidate. This morning Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald reported that a deal is in place and an announcment should come soon.

Gase, a first time head coach on any level has been one of the most sought after coaches this off-season. He was also reportedly Stephen Ross’ first choice for the team. Gase has been coaching since 2000 as an LSU graduate assistant under Nick Saban. He has worked in Detroit, San Francisco, Denver and Chicago. He has been an offensive coordinator since 2013 but was fired along with John Fox after a 10-6 season. He followed Fox to Chicago.

One notable about Gase is his personality and lack of ego. It’s been reported that Gase is able to get along with everyone from players to coaches to executives. He will need to mold and shape the Dolphins and change the mentality and physicality of the team.

Perhaps the biggest question is who Gase will bring in for assistant coaches and whether or not Dan Campbell will be retained on staff. Experience however is a big factor. While former players and executives rave about the coach, the jump to head coach is always difficult. Gase has done very well with quarterbacks in his career and Miami is hoping he can do the same with Ryan Tannehill.

The Dolphins have yet to make any announcements but we will have something as soon as we know it becomes official.
