Philadelphia Eagles

New head coach – Doug Pederson

Previous head coach – Chip Kelly

The Eagles didn’t surprise people because they fired Chip Kelly they surprised people because they fired him with one week left in the regular season. The Eagles interviewed a lot of candidates but many believed they would go after Tom Coughlin. They requested permission to interview him as he was technically a resigned head coach and thus still property of the Giants.

Pederson however is going to find Philadelphia a tough place to get acclimated to NFL head coaching. It can be brutal there for any coach let alone a first time head coach. A former player who played with the Miami Dolphins and was, ironically enough, the winning quarterback when Don Shula won his record-breaking 325th game. Against the Eagles in Philadelphia. I actually have a game worn jersey of Pederson from that season, the Miami Dolphins 25th silver season.

Pederson has been serving as the Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator and he will not be able to join the Eagles staff until the Chiefs are eliminated. Pederson has had one head coaching job, Calvary Baptist. He joined the Eagles as an offensive quality control coach before moving on to quarterbacks coach for the Eagles from 2011-2012. He has spent the last three seasons calling the offense in Kansas City.
