Leon Halll – Cincinnati Bengals

Trumaine Johnson – St. Louis Rams

Janoris Jenkins – St. Louis Rams

Hall is not an edge coverage corner, he is a slot corner but the Dolphins have a need here now that Brice McCain was released. The Dolphins Vance Joseph again could go with familiarity. Hall is not going to be very expensive but he will bring with him knowledge of the system and can handle the inside far better than McCaiin last season. While adding Hall doesn’t fix the edge corner issues, it’s a safe play for a team who lacks quality inside coverage corners as well.

Miami still needs edge corner but this years free agent class could be expensive. Janoris Jenkins and Trumaine Johnson of the Rams are two that Miami should look at. Both are solid coverage corners on the edge but both have some inconsistent play. Either one shouldn’t cost too much and Miami would be much more improved over Jamar Taylor. The biggest question is what to do about Brent Grimes and his $9.5 million contract.

If the Dolphins opted to save the money on Grimes and release him, they could afford to add two quality cornerbacks in free agency and then potentially add another in the 2nd round of the draft.

With the Dolphins having a top 10 selection in April, they will likely have their choice of cornerbacks but if they can address at least one corner in free agency, on the edge, then Miami can afford to draft best player available in round one and it appears that the top of the draft is strong with defensive front lineman.
