Final pre-free agency 2016 NFL mock draft

Houston Texans
Ezekiel Elliott – RB – Ohio State
The Texans need a quarterback and they won’t likely find one in a very thin free agent market. The problem is the draft may not cooperate either and the Texans may be forced to trade up if they want to draft a quarterback. The top prospects in the first round will most assuredly be gone by the time the Texans select at 22.
Despite the playoff push made by the Texans the team still has a lot of needs to fill on both sides of the ball. Running back being a major one. The Texans couldn’t get enough out of Alfred Blue and the yearly IR designation for Arian Foster has grown old. The Texans platooned Blue, Chris Polk, and Jonathan Grimes in 2015 and none of them did enough to cement the position.
Elliott is not a Todd Gurley-type but he is the best running back in this years class. If the Texans don’t address the position in free agency, which they should, Elliot is the top choice. Personally I think they will address the position provided they don’t go quarterback which is without question the top priority for the Texans this off-season. The problem is there simply isn’t a quarterback that really stands out as worth a pick at 22. Perhaps Michigan State quarterback Connor Cook. It’s very likely that one of either Cook or Elliott are drafted at 22 by the Texans.
