When the Dolphins opted to let Lamar Miller hit the free agent market it became clear that finding a replacement for him would be important. The Dolphins targeted former Bears runner Matt Forte but Forte signed with the Jets instead.

Running back

Bilal Powell

Powell is a strong runner but he does not have that breakaway ability that Miller brought to the Dolphins. Signing Powell is an indication that Miami fully believes that Jay Ajayi will be a three down running back. Powell needs solid blocking up front to be effective and Miami, right now, doesn’t have that.

Arian Foster

Yes, Foster has been injured the last three years and as a result his productions sucks. He has had a year to sit and heal and will likely not cost much. Foster can be very explosive but he is a one year addition at best and it’s not out of the question that he doesn’t finish that season.

Bobby Rainey

One of my personal favorites here because he is 28 and has starting experience. He will be cheap and can be effective. A hard runner who can contribute in the passing game.

C.J. Anderson

The Broncos tendered Anderson with a low tag allowing other teams to easily poach him. The Patriots are reportedly interested but Miami should make him a priority. Anderson is a strong runner with good vision and can take over entire series.
