Mackensie Alexnder – CB – Clemson

To be honest, I’m not sure who I would put at the 5th option. Kendall Fuller is a prospect at corner I would consider as would Kevin Dodd the physical defensive end from Clemson. Miami however needs to address the corner position and there is a drop after the first round.

Alexander is a solid cover corner who would be a day one starter for the Dolphins or any team for that matter. He has good range and recovery speed but lacks the ability to stay with receivers on deep routes. At the point of attack Alexander is very good. He is not afraid to attack running backs in the run game but he struggles with making the plays necessary to be completely productive against the run.

Where Alexander excells is with his vision of the play. He can turn quickly and unlike Eli Apple doesn’t have a problem with grabbing receivers in coverage. Alexander would be a cornerstone piece in the Dolphins secondary and would allow the Dolphins to move some of the depth to the slot coverage spots although Alexander can play that coverage as well.

Another option for the Dolphins would be offensie lineman Ronnie Stanley. Stanley is expected to go off the board before the 13th pick but he has the physical tools to play both guard and tackle like Conklin. If the top corners are off the board and Conklin is gone as well, Stanley could be an option for the Dolphins.
