The Dolphins, according to my projections have now addressed both the offensive line and cornerback giving them flexibility heading into the third round. All three of us disagree on the direction that Miami will take in round three.

Cat’s pick – Kenneth Davis – Running back – Lousiana Tech

Paul’s pick – Paul Perkins – Running back – UCLA

Both of my co-hosts believe that the Dolphins will address the running back position but I don’t think we will see them look at that position until round four at the earliest and I’m not sure Davis will still be on the board when Miami selects in the 3rd round as it is. Both would make the Dolphins offense more versatile and give Jay Ajayi someone to split time with but Miami still has other needs.

Artie Burns – CB – Miami, (FL)

Depending on the mock draft you look at, and they vary quite often, some believe that Burns will be long gone by the 3rd round while others believe he will fall to the 3rd. Cat is one of those who believes that Burns will be gone and as you can see, Paul selected Burns in the 2nd. Depending on when the run for corners actually happens, Burns could go anywhere between the middle of the 2nd to the bottom of the top third (10 picks).

Burns is far from elite but he possesses coachable skills. There is work to be done with Burns and Miami should be able to mold him if the coaching staff can actually develop players. Burns wouldn’t need to be a day one starter but in Miami he likely will challenge but he could see time as a slot corner.
