Defensive line

Cameron Wake is returning to the Dolphins after a torn Achilles in 2015. Through most of the off-season, Wake has been slower than last year which is expected during his recovery. Entering the 2016 off-season there was a lot of speculation about Wake’s future but it was Olivier Vernon who was left to the free agent market.

The Dolphins replaced Vernon with Mario Williams who fits well into the Dolphins scheme. Miami will employ a 4-3 defense again this season due to the personnel they have on the team. While there isn’t expected to be a lot of competition at the top of the defensive line, most will be at the bottom, there should be a definitive depth chart as training camp proceeds.

LDE – Cameron Wake, Andre Branch

LDT – Ndamukong Suh, Chris Jones

RDT – Earl Mitchell, Jordan Phillips

RDE – Mario Williams, Jason Jones

Don’t be surprised if Phillips opens ahead of Mitchell or if Chris Jones doesn’t open ahead of both of them.
