Best players of each Miami Dolphins draft class
By Brian Miller
After 17 rounds of drafting the NFL cut the draft to 12 rounds as they entered the 1977 draft. Miami had 11 picks in this years rookie selection and while nine players made NFL rosters two had big impacts on the Miami Dolphins.
RB Leroy Harris played two years in Miami before heading to the Eagles. In his two season he scored six touchdowns and was the third best draft pick of this class.
Number one draft pick A.J. Duhe’s career was cut short due to injuries but he still managed eight very solid season with the Dolphins. A backbone to the Dolphins defense of the mid-80’s, Duhe was a wrecking ball against the New York Jets. Especially in the post-season.
Duhe was drafted 13th overall and while his play in Miami is still remembered, it’s a close race between he and 2nd round pick, NT Bob Baumhower.
Baumhower spent nine season with the Dolphins and was part of the “Killer-B” defense that consisted of several players whose names began with “B” during the mid-80 Super Bowl runs.
Baumhower was a disruptive force registering 14 sacks in the four years he played while the NFL counted the statistic.
