Still without a first round pick, sent to New Orleans for Ricky Williams, the Dolphins still had a large draft class of nine players.

With his first selection, Wannsted drafted LB Eddie Moore despite the urging of then personnel director Rick Spielman who thought the team should draft Anquan Boldin. Miami was in need of a WR but not for a LB at that time. Boldin is still in the NFL and has had a great career while Moore played two seasons and was out of the league. He started three of his 18 games.

Wade Smith taken in round three lasted two seasons with Miami before bouncing around the league for another nine years. Taylor Whitley lasted two years in the NFL, one in Miami while tight-end Donald Lee lasted two seasons.

The entire draft would have been a complete bust if Miami hadn’t found a gem in the 6th round. Yeremiah Bell became the Dolphins defensive leader and a huge contributor. He spent eight seasons with Miami making the Pro-Bowl once. He started 75 of his 110 games with the Dolphins.
