Some are born in Miami and raised around the Miami Dolphins. Others are born across the globe and yet still find themselves rooting for the Dolphins.

The Miami Dolphins wanted to know how some of us became Miami Dolphins fans so they asked. A group of fans who run Dolphins blogs were sent an email earlier this week with the simple question: “How did you become a Miami Dolphins fan?”

The answer for most fans is simple but some are a bit more interesting. Take our staff for example. I posed the same question to them. You can read some of the responses on MiamiDolphins.com.

For me the answer was simple. I was raised on Dolphins football. Born at Cedars of Lebanon hospital overlooking the Orange Bowl. As the story goes, my mother held me to the hospital window on the day I was born and said, “that is the Orange Bowl. The Dolphins play there. You will be a Miami Dolphins fan!”. And so it was.

My lifelong passion of the Dolphins started with the simplest of parents. A Coast Guardsman stationed in Miami at the right time. Like those on the Dolphins website, we all have different stories. Share yours in the comments. For now, here is how our staff became Dolphins fans.

Mason Hicks:

"My path to the Miami Dolphins has not been an ordinary one. My entire life, I had been a die hard Texas A&M football fan. In the 2011 season, the starting quarterback truly caught my eye as he had all the components of a pro QB. His transition from WR also made his story all the more worthy. That player was Ryan Tannehill and he then got drafted by the Miami Dolphins in 2012."

"My life then became centered around the Dolphins and I continued to learn and research nearly everything there is to know about the current team. Being a Texas native, it was intriguing to root for a team that no one else around did. I certainly got my fair share of “The Dolphins suck!” but I did not let it deter my faith in the Miami Dolphins organization."

Eric Frosbutter:

"I’ve been a Dolphins fan since I began watching football which was about 7 years old. My father was, and remains, a die-hard fan so I started watching because of him. The first time I watched a game I was immediately hooked, and it wasn’t hard to get behind Miami.Dan Marino instantly became my favorite player as he led the team all the way to the AFC Championship game against Buffalo. I was bummed that they lost, but I believed that they would be back. Unfortunately, they haven’t been back since. As Dolphins fans though we have to keep hope."

Jairo Crespo:

"Much like Bane in the Dark Knight Rises, “I was born in it, molded by it.” When I was younger I wasn’t into watching sports. Sometime around my teen years I joined my father and brothers in watching the Dolphins. Learning about the team and football in the process. Today, I am the biggest Dolphin fan in the family."

Dale Paul-Jordan:

"Growing up on the islands, one Sunday afternoon I saw my family watching the Dolphins games.  All the old men were sitting around the tube yelling and screaming, which caught the eyes of all the children. I was 5 years old at the time, I ran up to my uncle and he gave me a $50 dollar Bahamian bill, at that time, it had a Dolphins on it.Putting the two together, I identified that the Miami Dolphins were money. That childhood mapping has since lasted to this day."

James Anderson

"It is something that has grown on me more recently. Although I was old enough being nine years old when the perfect season took place I don’t really recall it. Getting Larry Csonka’s autograph around that time as a kid I can recall. He was as big as a tree to me when he stood up to shake my hand. The NFL is the only major pro sports league that broadcasts over the air in my area. As a cord cutter for over a year I can appreciate that. And the winning helps to hold my attention more. As well as having the opportunity to write about the team on here. I even get team paraphernalia starting with fuzzy dice, fuzzy slippers, ugly sweater, stickers, door mat and had my eye on a throw that I couldn’t get a price on so I put it back at the store."
