After this past preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons, Damore’ea Stringfellow is now part of the Miami Dolphins preseason folklore (just made that up). He’ll be known as the guy who caught the Welker-like 99 yard touchdown pass. Who is this guy with the great name, Damore’ea Stringfellow?

Damore’ea Stringfellow is a 6’2 218 lb wide receiver who got his start in college football at the University of Washington. There after, transferred to Ole Miss due to an off the field incident and sat out the 2014 college football season. In his time playing college football Stringfellow amassed:

  • 102 Receptions
  • 1,478 Yards
  • 12 Touchdowns

Good numbers considering the obstacles Stringfellow had to overcome. Due to his off the field incidents he was not invited to the NFL Combine, red flag. He did however perform at his pro day.

Pro Day Results

  • 4.62                40 yd
  • 17                   Bench press
  • 36′                  Vertical Jump
  • 10’10”            Broad Jump
  • 4.54                20 yd Shuttle
  • 7.25                3 Cone Drill

Here’s a scouting report of Damore’ea Stringfellow by Lance Zierlein (paraphrased)

"Body control, high points the ball, big catch radius, excels as a vertical threat when the ball is in the air. Lacks foot quickness, could become a jam target by physical cornerbacks…questions on his long speed."

If you watched the first preseason game you’ll notice Stringfellow had the cornerbacks on his right hip both times. He got passed both corners but its an indicator of what some scouts are worried about in Stringfellow’s ability to separate. Against more physical corners with comparable dimensions, they may be able to shutdown Stringfellow. Of course, you can say this about many receivers in the league and they still find success.

It was only one preseason game against backups and the Dolphins have options at wide receiver. Damore’ea Stringfellow will have to prove himself every time he gets on that field. Showcasing determination on special teams and consistency at wide receiver. Even if Damore’ea Stringfellow doesn’t make the team, there will possibly be opportunities to join another team, and putting on highlights like the 99 yd touchdown will go along way to entice someone, somewhere.
