Can Mike Pouncey impact the 2017 season? The answer is 100% yes. Whether he plays the whole season or part of it, the offensive line will be impacted. Throughout camp we only got to see Pouncey play around in positional drills. He worked one day and took off the next often standing on the sidelines or doing rehab work.
The Dolphins are concerned about Pouncey’s health and rightfully so but Pouncey believes he is ready. On Sunday Pouncey participated in his first contact practice in team drills and afterwards he said he felt great getting back out there and hitting again.
It’s unlikely that the Dolphins use him much in pre-season week two and week three isn’t a given either. Miami wants to keep him safe for the regular season and there is no need to throw too much at him early. Still with Jay Cutler now on the roster there will need to be practice time reps to get the two on the same page and develop that consistency in the exchange.
