10 takeaways from Miami Dolphins training camp
By Brian Miller
Alterraun Verner
The Dolphins added Verner to compete with Bobby McCain and so far there is little question that Verner deserves a spot on the team. Verner has practiced well and his consistency has shown.
It’s unclear if Verner will unseat McCain out of a position on the final 53 but it does appear that he will see more playing time than McCain. The Dolphins had hoped McCain would take a step forward this year but he has yet to develop at the pace Miami needs him to. Welcome to the NFL’s version of The Fast and the Furious.
Overall Miami is the beneficiary of Verner who seems closer to returning to his Pro-Bowl season than he is to being more like his 2015 season in Tampa Bay. If Verner can get that taste of success he could really impact the Dolphins secondary as a ball-hawking slot corner back.
