All Downhill From Here: Tennessee Titans at Miami Dolphins  9/11/2004

As promised, here’s the first Dolphins game moved for weather from the 2004 season. Hurricane Ivan had something to say about the start time of this time. Consequently, the NFL decided Miami would play this one twenty-four hours early on Saturday.

Again, that was Hurricane Ivan that caused that one. Not to be confused with Hurricane Jeanne that would show up a couple weeks later, or Hurricane Frances that had been around a week previously. More of you might actually remember Frances, as it was on account of that storm that the UM-FSU Labor Day game became primetime Friday night football instead. And nearly was rescheduled again after all of that.

The Hurricanes at least did win their matchup, making it six straight over the Noles. The Dolphins…they’d lose 17-7, the first of six straight losses to open up the season.

Bonus MNF: Chicago Bears at Miami Dolphins 10/27/1997

This game is the one non-natural disaster related Miami Dolphins shift. Well, unless you were a Cleveland Indians fan that is.

The Dolphins were supposed to play the Chicago Bears that last Sunday in October of 1997, but quite unexpectedly found out that week that Pro Player Stadium was going to be otherwise occupied.

The Florida Marlins needed it for Game 7 of the World Series.

We all know how the game that was played at Pro Player that day went, even if it seems forever ago. The Dolphins had to wait for Monday night to get their game in. The result was a heartbreaking OT loss. Miami led 19-18 entering the fourth quarter, and by as much as 33-18. They would go on to lose 36-33.
