The Miami Dolphins do not play until 4:00 this afternoon which leaves a slate of games in the early time slot to kill time.

What games are worth watching at 1:00 p.m. this afternoon while you twiddle your thumbs and pace the floor of your viewing area? Should you watch games at all are just run to the store to stock up on beer and food? There are some games that could be of interest before the Dolphins take the field.

The AFC East is always a good place to start and the Bills and Jets both should leave today with losses while the Patriots will likely get their first win of the season. Here is what is in store in the AFC East today.

A battle of the New’s

New England will travel to New Orleans today to play the Saints and while there was a time that Drew Brees and company could keep pace with the offensive production of the Patriots, that no longer is the case. The Saints are struggling on both sides of the ball and that does not bode well for a team facing the Patriots after a surprising and rather lopsided home opening loss a week ago. The Patriots have had 10 days to stew in their own ineptitude so this is likely going to be ugly for the Saints.

Buffalo Bills

The Bills will face the Carolina Panthers today in Charlotte and it won’t likely be as pretty as it was last week against the Jets. The Bills will face a tough game on the road and the Panthers offense should be good enough to put up 30 plus points. The Bills have a lot of problems but they should be able to put up at least a bit of a fight before it falls apart.

New York Jets

The Jets will face the Raiders in Oakland today. Not only do they have the long flight across the state they simply are not that good. The Jets could get roughed up quite a bit today against an improving Raiders defense.

Of the three divisional games the Saints and Patriots might be fun to watch to start but by the second half the most fun might be watching Saints HC Sean Payton getting yelled at by Adrian Peterson on the sideline.

Out of division

Eagles and Chiefs

The Chiefs did a number on the Patriots last week so was it a fluke or are the Chiefs that good? The Eagles are not a great football team but they are a good team when they play together. There is some coaching history in this game as Andy Reid has coached the Eagles and Eagles coach Doug Pedereson was on Reid’s staff in K.C.

Jacksonville Jaguars

For the second week in a row the Jaguars make the list of a game to watch. They will face the Tennessee Titans at home and after the Calais Campbell four sack effort last week in the Jaguars opening win, Marcos Mariota might want to be careful.
