Everything that took place Sunday against the New York Jets went bad for the Miami Dolphins. It took a last second touchdown for Miami to avoid the shutout as the Dolphins fell to New York 20-6.

No one showed up Sunday for Miami. Both sides of the ball played horrible, and there’s not one position or person to put the blame on because quite frankly it was everybody.

On the offensive side of the ball no one found a rhythm. The offensive line of Miami got man-handled by the Jets front seven, and Jay Ajayi’s stats prove it.

Ajayi had 11 carries for 16 yards and the Dolphins rushed for a combined 30 yards. 25 of those yards came on three rushes. The rest of the game Miami carried the ball 12 times for five yards.

Quarterback Jay Cutler was just as bad. The offensive line did not give Cutler much time to throw, but they cannot be blamed for Cutler’s performance.

Cutler’s final stat line was 26/44 for 220 yards, TD, and INT but even those numbers look better than Cutler actually was Sunday.

The veteran quarterback missed open receivers several times. Including Jarvis Landry wide open in the end zone in the second half. The ball just did not come out of Cutler’s hand right, which we have seen plenty of times in the past from Cutler.

Cutler also went 5/6 for 67 yards and a touchdown on the game’s final possession when the Jets defense let Miami have whatever they wanted because the score was already 20-0 with two minutes left in the game.

That drive served as a stat booster for Cutler and DeVante Parker. Parker added 52 of his 76 yards and a touchdown on the last drive of the game.

Defensively, the only bright spot for Miami was the run defense. The Dolphins allowed 103 yards on 34 carries which equals just a three yard average for the Jets.

The problem was the pass defense. Josh McCown had a 126.3 quarterback rating against the Miami secondary.

McCown went 18/23 for 249 yards and one touchdown. He got some help from his receivers with a couple diving catches on bad throws, but overall McCown diced up the Miami secondary.

The Dolphins played terrible Sunday, there is no way to sugarcoat it. If Josh McCown can put this type of performance on against the Miami defense, just imagine what Drew Brees is going to do next week.

The Dolphins (1-1) take on the Saints (1-2) next Sunday in London, England.
