Jakeem Grant

The Dolphins should consider this adventure over. Grant has all-world speed but he has little perception on the football field. He is too small to play every down as a split wide-receiver who has the task of running deep. He can’t play the slot as a possession receiver and his decisions to field punts inside the 10 yard line are a joke.

Grant would be better off letting the punts hit and land wherever they may. The odds are surely just as good that they will travel into the endzone as much as they will being downed inside the five. Afterall what is another four yards after Grant’s catch and runs?

Jakeem Grant was supposed to be a difference maker. That game changing returner that can turn the field with one run but so far Grant has given the Dolphins nothing more than botched punts and bad field position. It simply can not continue and while he isn’t being paid much, it’s a roster spot that could go towards another offensive lineman.

As a receiver the Dolphins can’t seem to find room for him either. He is behind Leonte Carroo as the top wide-out behind Parker and Stills and he doesn’t see the field as a slot guy. His value to the team is negligible and that isn’t likely to change.
