Miami Dolphins must replace these five players in 2018
By Brian Miller
DeVante Parker
It’s an easy finger to point. Parker has all this talent. He is the big wide-receiver who can use his body to shield defenders and is the future for the Dolphins on the outside. On Thursday night he did absolutely nothing to hurt his team. Of course that is because he wasn’t actually on the field.
Parker is nursing an ankle injury and was deemed unable to play during warm-ups. Parker simply can’t stay healthy and the Dolphins will need to make a decision on his future because they will need to pick up his fifth year option after 2018. The good news is that Parker has another year before the Dolphins need to make that determination but Parker may be a better trade option.
Miami needs players that can stay on the field and frankly they are going to have to drop some serious money to keep Parker and that money vs. production would be better spent on Jarvis Landry.
Let’s be real here however when it comes to Parker. In reality, when Parker is healthy, he has yet to display the kind of game changing ability that you would expect from a number one WR. Would you consider him to be in the same class as a Julio Jones or an A.J. Green? Of course not. Would you consider him to be in the same class as Amari Cooper or a Deondre Hopkins? Yes, that is where he should be. He is not. Not even close. The potential is there and the Dolphins can tick off a number of reasons he is not that are beyond his control but the one fact is he is not that guy.
