The Miami Dolphins have made a lot of news with players that should be released at the end of the 2017 season but there are players that need to be re-signed as well.

When the 2017 season comes to an end officially in the NFL teams, some sooner than later, will begin to review their rosters and start making the tough decisions on what to do with high-price veterans and their own impending free agents. Some players will be gone and some will get new contracts.

For the Miami Dolphins, some of the decisions should be easy. Some of them have already been made like the release of Byron Maxwell who at the moment is still without a job and the trade of Jay Ajayi to Philadelphia.

When the Dolphins start trimming their roster and their salary cap, it’s easy to point a finger and say “that guy”. Players like Jermon Bushrod and Mike Pouncey make that list. Ryan Tannehill’s contract and so on. But what about the players that Miami really needs to re-sign and not allow to hit free agency?

As Dolphins safety T.J. McDonald prepares to make his Miami Dolphins debut on Monday night, already having received a contract extension without ever playing a down for the team, it’s time to look at five other  players that could have a major impact on the Dolphins off-season but more specifically have earned longer deals.
