5 players the Miami Dolphins must re-sign in 2018

Rey Maualuga didn’t impress many in pre-season after joining the team. He appeared out of shape and overweight and was injured. That stretched in the season as well. Maualuga didn’t appear to be what he was in Cincinnati but he had yet to play a game.
When Maualuga finally was cleared to practice he looked nothing like what fans had hoped they had received in the free agent acquisition but he quickly made fans realize that while he may have lost a step, he wasn’t that far gone.
Through the games he has appeared in Maualuga has bought into the Miami program under Matt Burke who has spent time with the linebacker while coaching with the Bengals. Now, he is a reliable run stopper who has helped take a very poor unit from a year ago and turned into a strength along side Kiko Alonso and Lawrence Timmons.
Maualuga is on a one year deal and it’s unlikely that he will find a lot of teams trying to bring him in after the season is over. This could benefit the Dolphins who could lock him up at a reasonable contract to provide solid depth and a potential starter should there be any issues with rookie Raekwon McMillan’s return next season.
