When looking at the impending free agents after this year the well dries up so to speak. The list of players include Matt Moore, Damien Williams, Jesse Davis, Jake Brendel, Walt Aikens, and players of that nature. Do any of them fall into the category of must re-sign? No. Sadly.

Williams is interesting and he could jump into this group now that he will be featured more in the offense. The trade of Jay Ajayi has opened the door for Williams to be showcased more but he isn’t very good at running the ball and is more suited to being a pass catching rusher. That needs to change as the season progresses.

Matt Moore has been a serviceable back-up but we all learned that as a starter, there is a lot of issues that prohibit him from being even average. That being said, he is a solid off the bench option and isn’t all that expensive. Miami however needs to find a back-up that can eventually become a starting option for Miami and that means that Moore likely should not be re-signed.

Jake Brendel is interesting in that he played well in place of Mike Pouncey. Pouncey is literally on his last leg and at $10 million a year the Dolphins need to find a younger healthier option at center. That may or may not be Brendel but signing him to an extension at least allows the team to develop him further and if nothing else he is a suitable option to back-up whomever the center may be.

As for the rest of the players none are considered must sign free agents. Miami’s biggest off-season priority should be the offensive line at right tackle, center, and both guard positions. Miami needs to pay for at least two in free agency and draft at least two as well that can compete to start.
