2018 will be a critical year for Adam Gase. It will be a critical year for Stephen Ross as well. If the Dolphins perform as they are this year, Gase may not be around long enough to fix the sinking ship. While many do not agree I actually like Gase.

Gase has an ego which I think is needed in the NFL especially as a head coach. He doesn’t let his players slack off and he holds them accountable. At times it may seem misguided but it is after all his career at stake.

This brings up the possibilities of potential in players and that is where Gase is supposed to be very good. The trade for Julius Thomas has been a joke but what if Ryan Tannehill had remained healthy? Would he have been more capable of getting the balls into his hands?

Gase was dealt a very bad hand this off-season. We already know the names of the players that have been injured or gone AWOL and the coaching issues with white powder. Very few coaches can handle that type of adversity let alone a second year head coach.

When this season ends, there are tough decisions that need to be made and here are five that Miami needs to make if they plan to turn this around and really find out what Adam Gase can and can not do.
