A look at the quarterbacks the Miami Dolphins could have had since 2001
By Brian Miller
Matt Ryan
There is no need to compare Matt Ryan to other quarterbacks. The Dolphins could have drafted him number one overall in 2008 but opted instead for a combination of Jake Long and Chad Henne. The Dolphins decided it was better to go with a veteran at the position and landed Chad Pennington as training camp started.
Ryan has been a solid quarterback leading the Falcons to a Super Bowl and has solid career stats that would warrant a first overall nod. Ryan is still throwing passes while Long is long since retired.
A year later the Dolphins would draft Pat White and while he was a huge mistake, no other quarterbacks from the 2009 draft class would have fixed the Dolphins woes. It was still a mistake.
