As the NFL trade deadline approached the hot topic was Jarvis Landry. Landry, set to become a free agent in 2018, dominated the NFL rumor mill the day before and the day of the league trade deadline. Landry’s name was mentioned so much that Miami had traded him to at least three teams according to Twitter. Even New York Giant and Landry’s best friend Odell Beckham, Jr. was sending out tweets to Landry to come to NY.

In the end, Landry stayed put but running back Jay Ajayi was gone.

Miami surprised many in the NFL with the trade of their starting tailback. The Eagles gave Miami a 4th round draft pick for the running back Miami selected in the 5th round two years earlier. The decision had fans shaking their heads and many of them pissed off.

As the hours turned into days, word began to filter out of Miami that Ajayi’s attitude on the field and in the locker room was the reason for his departure. Rumors began to surface of Ajayi yelling at coaches in the team offices, and a “me-first” attitude on the field. Ajayi was known to get upset if not given the ball. In week one of the 2016 season, Ajayi was left home after Arian Foster was named the starting runner for the opener against Seattle.
