MIAMI GARDENS, FL – DECEMBER 31: Kenyan Drake /

When the Miami Dolphins traded Jay Ajayi to the Eagles most fans were pretty upset. The former runner who had three 200 yard games in 2016 had no rushing touchdowns in 2017 and only two 100 yard games on the season at the trade deadline.

With Ajayi gone the Dolphins turned to Damien Williams and second year runner Kenyan Drake. Williams would be hurt in his first starting action of the year and that left Drake to handle the bulk of the carries.

Drake was immediately impressive rushing for 120 yards in his first game and 114 the following week. He would rush for just over 600 yards on the season but became a valuable asset in the passing game. He also gave the Dolphins a reliable blocking back who excelled at picking up the blitz in passing situations. He contributed as a receiver as well.

Drake is a player Miami hopes to build around as they work towards and overhaul in 2018. After the season however, Drake had fans wondering why they were so upset with the trade of Ajayi.
