NFL first 11 picks mock draft with the Kirk Cousins factor

The Miami Dolphins may or may not want a quarterback in round one but there are plenty of teams that do. Kirk Cousins is going to play a big role in who gets drafted by whom come April.

With the trade for Alex Smith all but official, it can’t be official until the league new year, Kirk Cousins is done in Washington. There are rumors floating around that the Redskins may franchise tag Cousins and then trade him but that is as unlikely to happen given the need for a new contract.

There are a lot of teams in need of a starting quarterback. In the first 11 picks of this years draft, the Browns, Giants, Jets, and Broncos all need a quarterback. Some believe that the Dolphins are looking strongly at the position as well. Four of the top 11 teams need quarterback help in a bad way and the Browns have two selections in the top 10 bringing that total to five of the selections in the top 11.

Then there is the Cardinals at 15 who need a quarterback and the Bills at 21 who also hold the 22nd pick. Could they combine the selections and move up into the top 10 to draft a quarterback? All of this hinges of course on where Kirk Cousins ends up playing. Most rumors circulating has his asking price around the $100 million mark and an annual cap number around $22 to $26 million a year.

Know this however, any team that really wants him can make the space to get him.
