9: San Francisco 49’ers
Selection – Denzel Ward – CB – Ohio State
With Jimmy Garrappolo now starting at quarterback the 49’ers need to fix their defense if they want to contend in a strong NFC West division. The 49’ers lack quality in the secondary and that needs to be addressed in the first or second round of this years draft.
Ward is a solid corner and could go before Joshua Jackson. If the 49’ers, who will invest a ton of money on their quarterback, opt to protect that investment then Quenton Nelson makes a lot of sense here. As does a top rated offensive tackle. Also I wouldn’t rule out a defensive end to add pressure against the NFC West quarterbacks.
