Cameron Wake

Five years after Wake retires from the NFL his name will be tossed around for Hall of Fame consideration. Between now and his retirement from the league, maybe two more seasons, he will have a chance to rack up more sacks.

Wake has a huge following and fan base in Miami and is one of the Dolphins prized players on defense but Wake isn’t a vocal leader and he isn’t a guy who is going to rally the troops late in a game. Miami should take a page out of the Patriots playbook and trade him while there is still a bit of value left.

Wake beginning and ending his career in Miami is something that is rare but the Dolphins need to get better on defense and while Wake is still productive, how long will that productivity last? Miami will not have a better chance to trade him than they will this season.

Trading Wake would save the Dolphins just over $8 million in cap space which would be enough to re-sign William Hayes and add another defensive end to the rotation. What kind of trade value Wake would have is unknown but if I am Miami I’m going to listen and if the value is right I strongly consider it.
