MIAMI GARDENS, FL – DECEMBER 11: Jordan Phillips /

Jordan Phillips

Phillips had probably his best season as a pro in 2016 so his stock is at the highest it will likely be while with the Dolphins. Phillips will be a free agent after the 2018 season and Miami will need to make a decision on the defensive tackle.

As well as Phillips played however, the Dolphins seem to have hit a home run with DT Davon Godchaux and as a result, Phillips really doesn’t fit into the future plans. A trade would not bring in a top draft pick but a mid-round selection could help bolster the team in other areas.

Another option would be to use Phillips as part of a package that could bring in a swap of draft picks or a move into an earlier round. Again like all trades there are options if the solicitation of the player is handled correctly.

Phillips will not save much in cap space if traded. He is still on his rookie contract but this would be a matter of getting something for a player who will likely be gone after the season.
