Miami Dolphins have a bad history with wide-receiver trades since 2004
By Brian Miller
2010 – Ted Ginn
2010 – Greg Camarillo
The Miami Dolphins made Ted Ginn, Jr. their top draft pick in 2007 taking the speedy receiver in round one. Ginn was panned from the start as fans booed the selection at a team held draft event and even booed then head coach Cam Cameron when he addressed those fans. If memory serves it was the last time that the Dolphins coaches or executives addressed the fans following a draft pick.
Ginn was a nightmare pick from the start. Despite being exceptionally fast, Ginn didn’t translate well to the receiver role. He had problems catching the ball with consistency and as a returner he tended to run towards the sidelines instead of up-field.
In 2010 the Dolphins under Parcells and Jeff Ireland had seen enough and they traded him to the 49’ers for a 5th round pick that they would use on Nolan Carroll. Carroll would have a so-so career in Miami that didn’t last too long.
That same season the Dolphins traded Greg Camarillo to the Vikings for Benny Sapp. Sapp wouldn’t last long in Miami. Camarillo wouldn’t last long with the Vikings. Ginn on the other hand has played in the Super Bowl and is now with the New Orleans Saints, still playing but never reaching his first round expectations.
