Cody Parkey

Heading towards the start of free agency it was almost a given that Parkey would return to the Dolphins in 2018. He was an impending free agent but the Dolphins were expected to keep him. New surfaced at the start of free agency that Parkey was signing a deal with the Bears.

The news was a bit surprising given the fact that Parkey kicked well for the Dolphins in 2017 but then the contract became known and fans were more surprised. Parkey received a deal that would pay him around $3 million per season over the next three years with almost $9 million in guarantees. That is a lot for a kicker who could simply slide back into a bad routine and start missing kicks.

The Dolphins will now have to fill the kicker position and it will be interesting to see who they bring on board to do that. Miami could bring in Andrew Franks to compete. Franks was released when Parkey won the kicking job in 2017.
