When the Miami Dolphins announced a trade with the Los Angeles Rams the first thought everyone had was that the Dolphins were going to release Cameron Wake. That hasn’t happened yet. The next question was why bring in yet another defensive end to a crowded unit?

Miami sees a player that has a lot of potential and still two years left on his contract. A big contract however. He will make $10 million this season and $11 million in 2019.

The Dolphins wanted to bring another veteran who can be more of a vocal leader in the locker room. Someone who can prop those around him up and to some degree teach. That is not Cameron Wake.

Quinn is a very good defensive end and can move up field quickly off the edge. He can also play outside linebacker, a position he played last season when the Rams moved to a different defensive scheme. Quinn didn’t play as well at LB but he was still serviceable.

Miami seems to have indicated that Quinn will be a starting DE but what side of the line is unclear. What Miami is getting is a player that will help Charles Harris‘ development.
