Tremain Edmunds and Roquan Smith

There are six players listed because frankly neither Edmunds or Smith deserve their own slide. They are so similar in play and make-up that either player would be a tremendous addition to the Dolphins defense.

Honestly, it’s very close between these two and Mayfield. To the point that if Mayfield was still on the board at 11, I wouldn’t be upset if they passed on him for one of these standout prospects.

Both players have the speed and vision to play linebacker in the NFL and there are very few hangups in their game. Many believe that Smith is the more rounded player while others believe that Edmunds has more room for development and long-term potential.

Edmunds will need some coaching as he tends to commit too early to the line of scrimmage and he has some angle issues but those can be worked out. His instincts are not as good as Smith’s either but this is a kid who is 19 years old and is nowhere near peaking.

Miami has had major linebacker problems for years. Last year the Dolphins attempted to fix the unit by signing Lawerence Timmons and drafting Raekwon McMillan but McMillan never played a down after injuring his knee on the opening kick-off of the teams first pre-season game and Timmons was nothing what Miami thought they were buying. He has since been released.

Whether that player is Smith or Edmunds the Dolphins are getting a player who can tackle and tackle well. Can play the pass and set the edge. It is something Miami has not had in a long time.
